Ethan Liu
Lead App/Platform Engineer
As the Lead App/Platform Engineer at YokyWorks, Ethan Liu is redesigning the learning experience for teachers and students using cutting-edge technologies like real-time streaming and Generative AI. His path to this work began with research at Boston University, where he studied neurodegeneration through the lens of computational modeling. Outside of formal research, Ethan pursues independent projects in machine learning, often exploring the connections between artificial intelligence and the human brain. With his technical background and curiosity-driven approach, he is committed to building tools that open the door to a more equitable society where every learner has the chance to thrive.


Kailana Baker-Matsuoka
App Engineer
Kailana Baker-Matsuoka used to be the app engineer for YokyWorks. After conducting research at MIT and CMU on neurodeveopment challenges and machine learning algorithms, she implemented the first version of the app. She presented a paper on the impact of the app in one low-income community at the 2023 International Dyslexia Association Conference alongside YokyWorks education specialists. Every day Kailana works to create the opportunity for every child to learn to read.
Talise Baker-Matsuoka
Volunteer App Developer
Talise Baker-Matsuoka was an app developer volunteer for YokyWorks. She went to Gunn High School. After recovering from her own injury, she had been dedicated to creating a world with more equity for those with physical and neural diversity
