Our Story

YokyWorks started in 2009 with funding from a MacArthur "Genius" Grant Yoky received in 2007 for her work in robotics and brain science and with a mission to engineer for the human experience.

In the early years, YokyWorks focused on enhancing the lifestyles of those with physical challenges through the building and development of physical devices.

For the last several years, Yoky struggled as a mom raising children with dyslexia (while also discovering herself as dyslexic through this journey). After many failed attempts by various programs to help her children to read, she was fortunate enough to learn about Jane Milan's program.

Meeting Jane Milan changed Yoky and her children’s lives. Yoky's children are reading above their grade levels and dinner conversations are now about the stories they are immersed in.

To ensure that more children can benefit from Milan Method instruction, YokyWorks is now partnered with Jane as an exclusive provider of this method to focus on removing barriers and unlocking the potential in every child. The organization continues to grow with the help of its dedicated staff and guidance from its amazing board members. Learn more about our fantastic team below!
